Not recommended. Has retention issues, and older revisions have an issue where the plastic impeller wears out. I just bought the Dose Control Pro yesterday and coming from a Krups GVX242 I can’t say I am impressed. Aside from the obvious quality of the build of the machine, espresso is the same on the dedica e 680 using a pressurized portafilter.. When introduced, the Dose Control Pro was around $150 USD. It would occasionally drop as low as $100 on sale. Today, some 10 years later, the Dose Control Pro is still around $150 retail ( $160 on Breville’s website is full MSRP ). And occasionally, you can find it on sale as low as $110 or less.

Marc and Morgan from wholelattelove.com compare two coffee grinders from Breville: The Dose Control Pro and Smart Grinder Pro. Both are upgraded versions of previous models. Capable of grinding for espresso, drip, pour-over and press, these grinders offer design and performance at a value.. The 600 did 2/3 the amount in 120 seconds. If not more. The 400 produces great flavor. The 600 was so thin and watery that I threw it out. The 400 produces powdery-like coffee. The 600 is more coarse, which I suspect causes the foul taste. Aside from the fancy electronics, I thought both machines were identical.
